Program

At the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito we practice a formalized inclusive philosophy that benefits all members, regardless of differences in ability. We implement our inclusive philosophy by instilling empathy, altruism, tolerance and self-value in our children. BGCSDTO inclusion services all members; both those with special needs and their typically developing peers by instilling the necessary skills not to face but to embrace diversity in our constantly evolving community. Through our implementation of inclusion, participants enhance their self-esteem, increase autonomy, discover new talents, strengthen social skills and most importantly develop an appreciation for diversity and differences in ability. Our hope is that our members spread our appreciation for diversity and inclusion out of our clubs and into our schools and communities and ultimately empower themselves to create true and meaningful change in our world while utilizing the skills we instill. The Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito are confident that our inclusive programming will create true societal change.

Education

Inclusion education equals understanding, acceptance, and friendship. It is our goal to arm our Club members with knowledge that dispels stereotypes, alleviates fears, and teaches preventive measures to keep members safe and healthy. One of our goals is that typically developing members have developed empathy, learned to appreciate diversity, and now facilitate their own friendships with members with special needs.
